Obituary of George Armstrong
ARMSTRONG: George –
A longtime resident of Chatham, George Armstrong passed away at the Riverview Gardens on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the age of 86.
Born in London, George was the son of the late George and Ethel (Paddick) Armstrong.
Beloved husband of the late Edith Armstrong (nee Burke) (1995) and the late Marilyn Armstrong (nee Agar) (May, 2021).
Loving father of Kelly Armstrong (Carmen) of Chatham and step-children Jennifer Courtice (Doug) of Chatham, Andrew Shaw of Chatham and David Shaw (Jennifer) of Waterloo.
Proud grandfather of Dylan Tomchuk, Randy Armstrong, Kayla Armstrong; Erin Courtice, Jacquie Courtice; Jacob Shaw, Megan Shaw, and Sarah Shaw.
Predeceased by his sister Janet McIntyre (late Richard) of London.
Brother-in-law to Fran Buncombe of Whitby, Helen Livsey (Al) of Chatham and Brian Agar (Judy) of Chatham.
Predeceased by in-laws Winnifred Drummond (Ivan), Gordon Burke and Henry Burke.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
George retired from Versa Services after over 25 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, curling, playing cards, attending the horse races and was a big Blue Jays and Maple Leafs fan.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 5:00pm until the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm. The service will be live-streamed on the Funeral Home website.Cremation to follow with an interment to be held at Shank’s Cemetery.
