George Smith
SMITH, GEORGE WAYNE – It is with great sadness that
we announce the death of George Wayne Smith of Argyle Sound who passed
away suddenly on January 11, 2021 at the age of 69. Born in Everett,
Massachusetts, he was the loving husband of Michelle (nee
d’Entremont), his wife of 42 years, of Lower West Pubnico.
George is survived by his daughter Moneica (Tyler Smith) of Plymouth,
and grandsons, Emmett and Reid, who were
Pépère’s pride and joy. He is also
survived by brothers, Doug (Pat) and Kevin, and sisters, Vilda Mini
and Hollie (Doug Bruce). He will be greatly missed by in-laws:
Gisèle (Bruce Doucette), Albert (Myrna), Yvon (Connie),
Marie-Germaine (Yves Chartrand), Robert, Carmelle (Richard), Ann and
Rose.
He was predeceased by two infant children Jennifer and
Nicholas, parents George and Mary, and brothers-in-law: Claude
d’Entremont and Rick Mini.
George was a retired lobster fisherman working for Coastal
Fog Fisheries. He was truly one-of-kind and will be remembered fondly
at the wharf and in the community, spinning yarns and enjoying a good
argument. He was an avid sports fan cheering his favorite Boston
teams: Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed wheeling, boating,
socializing with friends and family around the campfires at the
cottage in Quinan. He appreciated his hunting buddy Terry, and time
spent at the New Ross camp with his wife, Graham, Tracy, Katie and
Ryan. George had a very special way with children and they loved being
teased by him. He was a generous person who loved his family and
thought the world of Michelle and Moneica.
The family will hold a small private celebration of life in
his honor at a future date. Donations can be made to the Nova Scotia
Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Arrangements
are entrusted to the West Pubnico Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Middle West Pubnico. 902 762-3407
