George Joseph Condran
1937-2021
Condran,
George Joseph, age 83, of Antigonish passed away on January 19, 2021,
in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish.
Born
in Dartmouth, growing up in Woodside, he was a son of the late
Clifford and Agnes (Romo) Condran.
George
is predeceased by his wife, Marie (Chisholm). He is survived by his
children, Glen (Allison), Manotick, ON; Linda (Dave) Hubley, Carleton
Place, ON; Cliff (Shelly Fletcher), Toronto, ON and Gary (Nancy
Gardiner), Ottawa, ON; grandchildren, Erin, Jason, Amanda, Lauren,
Hayden, Wesley, Georgia, and Garrison; great-grandchildren, Alden,
Travis, Clara, Kenzie, Nathan, and Theo; siblings, Bernadette Beaver,
Shirley Muzzerrall and Ken.
George’s
career included working as the manager of the parts department at
Cornwallis Motors in New Minas. He was known as the “go-to
guy” whenever mechanics or do-it-your-selfers needed a part,
regardless of the day or time of week. He and his wife Marie
raised their four children in Kentville. He built the family house
through a development co-op with the Browns, MacNeils, Woodworths, and
others; and he and Marie filled it with love. After moving to
Antigonish, he was openly embraced by Marie’s family as one
of their own. A man of faith, he has always been known for his
gentleness and thoughtfulness for all around him, including the many
great friends he and Marie made in the Valley and at the Antigonish
Manor. He had a passion of listening to the country music greats,
taking drives, going to Mother Webbs, watching nightly Jeopardy, and
especially seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
grow.
The
family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of St.
Martha’s for the extraordinary care and compassion they
provided Dad.
Cremation
has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 1:00pm
in St. Ninian Cathedral, Reverend Donald MacGillivray
