George Clifford Nicholson
1947-2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
George Nicholson of Oromocto, NB, on September 3, 2021, at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital after a long battle with heart
disease.
George was born on April 9, 1947, in New Glasgow, NS. He was
the only child of Hector and Ruth Nicholson.
George is survived by his wife Gail, his daughter Debbie
Cotie (Adrian), his son Craig (Amy), and his granddaughter Kylie, as
well as many extended family members and friends.
To George family always came first, he was very proud of the
lives his children made with their own families. He and Craig had a
close bond and would always send a final nightly text at 9:34 to end
their day. George was a kind hearted man who had a special way with
people, he could talk to anyone and in no time knew their life story.
George did not like to travel, he had a simple daily routine where he
would go out to do errands, and then return to enjoy the comfort of
his own home. George loved nothing better than sitting in his
favourite chair enjoying a cold beer while watching his two favourite
teams, the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees.
George was employed at CANFOR Wholesalers in Fredericton for
many years and later at Base Gagetown.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of 3SW,
ICU and Palliative Care Units at the DECH for their care and
compassion during his stay in hospital.
In keeping with George’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or service. A private family gathering will take place at
Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in George’s memory may be made to a
charity of donor’s choice.
