Death Notice
SMALLBRIDGE, Gayle Louise (Bowron) – Died in London, Ontario, on September 26, 2021, age 91. Born in Toronto on November 25, 1929, the only child of Dorothy and John Bowron. I earned a B.A. at U. of T. (Trinity College) and an M.A. University of Alberta. I married John in 1954. I taught English, High Schools (Belleville and Kitchener), and E.S.L. Crouch Library (London). I gave birth to three creative children who married happily, Justin (Jill), Emily (Rick), and Paul (Christina), by whom I was given seven grandchildren: Henry, Spencer, Elektra, Jakob, Rose, Georgia, and Walter. Our dinner tables were always full of talk, laughter, and often singing by family and friends. I enjoyed extensive travels, plays at the Stratford and Shaw Festivals, operas, and music concerts at world-wide venues, and reading countless books. My life was blessed with good health, love of an extended family, cherished friends, and the companionship of varied four-legged pets. Private “Celebration of Life”: Church of St. John the Evangelist, London. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in my memory may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Church Music Programmes, 280 St. James St., London, ON N6A 1X3 or World Vision, 1 World Drive, Mississauga, ON L5T 2Y4.
