Gary “Wayne” Mahaney
1943-2021
Gary “Wayne” Mahaney – 78,
of North Alton passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son
of the late Frederick “Russell” and Inez (Lenihan) Mahaney.
He had been employed by Great Valley Juices for many years. Over the
years, he enjoyed training oxen, hunting, gardening or going to
jams.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy
(Patterson); and two sons, Brian (Paula), North Alton; and Barry
(Elaine), Prospect; brother, Robert (Elsie), North Alton; and sisters,
Linda Lonergan, Coldbrook; and Judy (Tom) Keddy, New Minas;
grandchildren, Brad (Nicole), North Alton; Melissa (Mike) and Rebecca
(Nick), both of Kentville; and Evan, Halifax; step-grandchildren,
Kevin (Megan), B.C.; Kate (Josh), N.B.; and Cole, P.E.I.; four
great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; as well as
numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, George and
Gerald; sister, Joyce Esposito, brothers-in-law, Laurie Patterson,
Blair MacLellan, Ralph Esposito and Laverne Lonergan; and
sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mahaney.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26,
2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, where the funeral service take place at 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday, November 27. Interment will take place in Elm Grove
Cemetery. In accordance with the Nova Scotia Proof of Full Vaccination
Policy, proof of full vaccination will be required to attend
visitations, services and receptions held in or by the White Family
Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, there will be a video
webcast of the service available at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory may
be made to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of one’s
choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
