Gary Smith Nason
1946-2021
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow we mourn the passing of Gary
S. Nason of Harvey, NB on December 19, 2021 at the Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital. Born on February 5, 1946 at St. Stephen, NB, he
was a son of the late Chester Smith Nason and Annie Gertrude (Nason)
McCraken.
He is survived by his wife Brenda (DeLaFranier) Nason; his children
Todd Nason (Janell) and Christine Cleghorn (Tommy); five grandchildren
Alli Nason (Rob), Cheyanne Curtis (Andrew), Mitchell Nason, Dustin
Cleghorn (Sam) and Natasha Cleghorn (Jackson); three great
grandchildren, Dakota Nason, Easton Cleghorn and Parker Cleghorn; a
sister Marilyn MacKeigan (Ken); several aunts, uncles and
cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son Jamie Smith
Nason and his step-father Arthur McCraken.
Gary was a loving father and grandfather with a heart of gold that
would help anyone. He worked 32 years at St. Anne Nackawic Pulpmill
as Chief Scaler and worked his farm ‘Holiday Ranch’ for
over 40 years.
Visiting hours will be held at Swan Funeral Chapel, 1826 Route 3,
Harvey Station, NB on Thursday, December 23, 2021 from 12 noon until 2
pm. Due to government Covid regulations, masks, proof of double
vaccination and government issued ID are required. A private funeral
service will then be held with Rev. Anne Boudreau officiating.
Interment will be later at Harvey Settlement Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Alli Nason, Cheyanne Curtis,
Mitchell Nason, Dustin Cleghorn and Natasha Cleghorn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Meredith Drost, Lorri Yerxa, Barrie
Morecraft, Alex Harris, Tommy Cleghorn and Ken MacKeigan.
For those who wisht to make a donation in memory of Gary, the family
has suggested a charity of the donor’s choice or do something
kind for someone.
Thanks go out to Dr. Ginn and nurses and staff of 4NW and Dr.
Gilles-Doyle and nurses and staff of 3E who helped Gary with his
journey.
