Obituary of Gail O’Neil-Allain
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in The Ivy Meadows Continuing Care Home, Beaver Bank, NS, at the age of 75. Born in Bathurst, NB on January 25, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Melvina (Boucher) O’Neil.
Gail is survived by her children, Dianna Allain (Daniel), Saint John, NB and Dan Allain (Melissa), Ardoise, NS; her five grandchildren, Connor, Darrah, Emma, Jacob and Cody; brother, Daniel Jr. O’Neil (Carol), Bathurst, NB and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Gail was predeceased by sisters, Helena Veniot, Shirley Aube, Patricia (TC) Melanson, Sharon Comeau; brothers, George, Johnny and Brian O’Neil; as well as the father of her children, Bernard “Bernie” Allain.
Gail’s family and her children were her pride and joy. She was very involved in their activities, be it at the pool with Dianna or the rink with Dan, she was their biggest fan. She had a particularly special relationship with her grandchildren. They were her world and they will miss their “Nana”. Gail loved to travel and go on outings, was an active member of her church, enjoyed playing cards and bingo, as well as fast pitch softball. She was a volunteer with the ALS Society and Dreams Take Flight.
Gail’s family would like to thank the staff at The Ivy Meadows for the exceptional care and support that she and her family received over the past six years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). Due to COVID restrictions, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place when restrictions permit. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Friends of Ivy Meadows Residents Society, C/O 46 Friesian Ct., Halifax, NS B3M 0M3.
