Obituary
It’s with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our father, grandpa, father-in-law, brother and friend Alfred Julier, better known as Fred or Freddy. Fred will always be remembered as an entertainer who loved an audience, and brought us joy through his songs, jokes, and accordion.
Always the dreamer with a positive outlook, his adventurous spirit took him from his native Switzerland to Canada, with time spent as a Swiss Guard at the Vatican in between. He loved to watch tennis and was an active sportsman who enjoyed skiing, fencing, equestrianism, and swimming.
Fred had an impressive career as a leading hotelier. He acted as the General Manager of several high-end hotels and was also a mentor to many in the hotel management business.
In 1973 Fred married Maud and together they raised their two sons Damien and Jerome. Watching them grow and start their own families with their wives Lia and Taara was one his proudest accomplishments. His grandchildren Hudson, Louise, Quinn, Bishop and Josephine will always remember his kind heart.
His final years were spent at the Kingsway retirement home where he made beautiful friendships and always expressed how happy he was to be a part of such a warm community.
His love of history and politics, playing his accordion, telling jokes and making puzzles will be deeply missed by all in his life.
Rest In Peace our dear Fred.
Alfred Julier
