Franklin “Frank” Marathon Stairs
Franklin (Frank) Marathon Stairs – 81, of Halifax NS, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 in Oakwood Nursing Home, Dartmouth. Born in Lr. Southampton, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Eric Roberson and Frances Pearle (Pickard) Stairs. Frank served his country with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1958-1987. In Later years, Frank was a member of Canadian Search and Rescue (DFO) as a Technician and Medic. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sandra Ann (Sheffield) Stairs. He is survived by sister, Ella Mary (Stairs) Pickle; loving daughter, Denise Johnston, Oakland, ME; step son Chris Bickerton, Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Caleb Johnston, Julian Johnston, Morgan Bickerton, Emma Bickerton and great-grandchild Aspen Sandbach. Niece Linda Hill, Moncton NB. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Dartmouth Funeral Home, no visitation and service by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Oakwood Terrace, as well as family and friends who express their condolences.
