Frank Borgmann 1936 2021

Obituary of Frank Borgmann
It is with heavy hearts we announce that Frank Anton Borgmann passed away at St. Catharines General Hospital on Sunday, July 18, 2021, in his 85th year. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret, his sisters and brothers in Germany Mini, Mia, Hedwig, Hildegard, Theo and Hermann. Frank is also survived by his children Fred (Tammy), Bernie (Sharon) and Cindy Gittins (Crane), his grandchildren Heidi Rand (Joe), Geoffrey, Kirsten, Frances, Emily, Rebecca, Lauren, Benjamin, William, Nicholas, Helena, Spencer, and Claire, and his great-grandchildren Jackson, Mila, and Harley. He is pre-deceased by his sister Greti and his brother Heinz.
Frank was born in Nordhorn, Germany, on May 22,1936, and emigrated to Canada in August of 1957. Frank was a successful entrepreneur and owned many businesses in the Niagara Region including Donut 68, Edelweiss Deli, Margaret’s Beauty Salon, Niagara Wig Creations and ClassicCuts. In his later years, Frank was a real estate agent helping many people find their perfect home.
Proud of his German heritage, Frank was a founding member and served as President of Club Rheingold. He was instrumental in the development of Port Colborne Youth Soccer in the 1970s. Frank had an awe-inspiring and encyclopedic knowledge of history, geography, and politics. He instilled a love of nature in his family. A passionate soccer fan his entire life, Frank loved to follow the fortunes of his beloved German National Team and his youth soccer club Vorwarts Nordhorn. Above all else, Frank’s greatest joy was his family. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren on the soccer field whether it was Timbits soccer or Canadian National Team matches. Frank was a kind and generous man devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of the life he built in Canada. He will be dearly missed.
