Frank Donato

Sydney Mines
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Francis Pasquale Donato, announce the passing of our beloved “Papa” on Thursday, March 11, 2021, his 95th birthday, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Frank was born in Sydney Mines on March 11th 1926. He was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Landry) Donato. Growing up Frank enjoyed sports, and played baseball for the Barrington Street Rovers. He had a long career as a miner, and enjoyed telling his grandchildren stories of “the pitt”. He was well known in the community for his great love of horses, and harness racing. He will always be remembered by his family for his beautiful blue eyes.
Frank leaves behind his children, Judy Rose; Mary MacDonald; Frankie (Susan) Donato; and Jake Donato; his grandchildren, Harold MacDonald; Judy Donato; Vance MacDonald; Tanya Donato; James Donato; Robin Donato; and Tara Ivey; and great-grandchildren, Hannah; Kate; Maria; Sophia; Cooper; Taylor; Mikayla; Emma; Joshua; and Jeremy. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Violet (Lynk) Donato; his son, Joseph (Joanne) Donato; son-in-law, Aubrey Pettis; his grandson, Joshua Donato; and siblings, Nick; Catherine; and Evelyn.
A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the paramedics, and wonderful nurses from 2 West at the Northside General, whose kindness and compassion were greatly appreciated, during his short stay. Special thanks to Dr. Kohlsmith, for his many years of care.
Your beautiful mane,
Clasped tight in my hands,
As we ride over fields,
To a brave new land.
-Katherine Armon
