Obituary of Francis Howard Burns
December 2, 1941 – June 26, 2021
Francis Howard Burns passed away peacefully at Meadow Park Long Term Care, Chatham on Saturday, June 26, in his eightieth year. Beloved father of David (Ellen) of Sarnia and Gregory (Sheri) of Kitchener; proud grandfather of Ryland and Timothy of Kitchener; dear brother of Dargan (Theresa) of Wallaceburg and James (Robin) of Dresden; loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his parents, Basil and Helen Burns of Dresden, and siblings Helen, Jean (Frank) and George (Irene). Francis was born and raised on Twin Oaks Farm near Dresden, and for many years he was the proprietor of Lambton-Kent Tire in Dresden. He proved himself a generous mentor and employer. Francis also became a representative for the Equitable Life Insurance Company. During his years in business, he was apt to be spotted at Marlene’s Restaurant or behind the wheel of his truck attending service calls for his many customers. Francis was a frequent attendee of the Dresden Fairgrounds, enjoying bed-races, tractor-pulls and demolition derbies. He promoted his business and indulged his sons’ love of small engines by many entries in the annual Pet and Hobby Parade. Francis was a prominent local character and wit. He was a good son, dad and brother.
Francis built a home on Park Street in Dresden and hosted countless barbeques, pool parties and Christmas events. The backyard was often a merry collection of family and friends.
The family will hold an interment service at Dresden Cemetery. We wish to thank the staff of Meadow Park Chatham for their care and kindness. Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice are appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Francis
