Francis Ryan, age 69, of Southern Harbour passed peacefully away on October 28, 2021 at the Health Science Center in St. John’s. Predeceased by his son Blair, mother and father Lucy and Vincent Ryan, mother-in-law and father-in-law Kitty and Dominic Leonard, sisters Veronica Gambin (Mike) and Clara Traverse (Eric), brother-in-law Pad Mulrooney. Left with fond and and loving memories his wife of 50 years Helen; daughter Bonnie Crowley (Colin); special nieces Danette Traverse (Jason) and Michaela Greenland (Scott); daughter-in-law Nicole; grandchildren Dylan, Cody, Chantal, Sarah and Lily; sisters Sheila, Marion (Bert), Rita (Glen), Phyllis(Robert); brothers Philip(Hannah) and Vince (Priscella); and a large circle of family and friends.
Francis was born December 9, 1951 in Harbour Buffett. He moved to Southern Harbour in 1966. He married his wife Helen in 1971 and had two beautiful children. He worked on the sea his whole life to support his family until he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2009. While he could not be doing what he loved after his diagnosis, he could be found working in his shed, fishing, helping other, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Thank you to the nurses and doctors of GB Cross Memorial Hospital and the Health Science Center, especially Dr. Rourke, his oncologist since his diagnosis and Dr. Fowlow, his family doctor.
Love, like the Ocean is vast and forever but sorrow a wave that passes over the sea.
