Francis Gerald Cormier
1945-2021
It is with profound sadness that we
announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Francis
Gerald Cormier, 75, of Dorchester Cape, NB, son of the
late Alyre and Alma (Richard) Cormier.
Francis was a devoted and caring father,
grandfather, uncle and brother. He loved social gatherings with his
family and friends, never needing to be the center of attention,
quietly observing and/or participating in the conversation. Without
hesitation, he always welcomed people in his home, cooking up his
famous pancakes that were second to none. Francis was well respected
in his community, and will always be remembered as a kind-hearted and
gentle soul, who always saw the good in everyone. He had a wonderful
sense of humour – he would begin telling what you thought was a true
story; really draw you in, only to end with an unexpected, but
hilarious punch line. For any do-it-yourself projects or home
renovations, he always had ready advice on how to ‘do it
right’.
Francis loved fishing, hunting and being
in the woods. Being musically talented, he played drums in a band in
his younger years and this passion continued on in his church life as
he played in the weekly services.
Because he was on dialysis, Francis
spent a lot of time at the George Dumont Hospital for his treatments.
The doctors and nurses there loved him as he put on a brave face,
never complained, always had a ready smile and really got to know
them, right down to their children’s
names.
Words cannot express how much he will be
missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Estabrooks) Cormier;
three adored children, Crystal (Michael) Grant, Jason (Chantal)
Cormier, and Jana (Brandon) Stone; five cherished grandchildren,
Hannah, Malachi, Théo, Sophia, and Louisa; as well as many
nieces and nephews, extended family and close friends. He is survived
by his brothers Norman (Frances) Cormier and Raymond (Wenda)
Cormier.
Besides his parents, Francis was
predeceased by his brothers, Ralph (Edmée) Cormier, Allan
(Frances) Cormier, Edgar Cormier, and his sister, Roma (George)
Fillmore.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70
Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300). Cremation has taken
place and there is to be no visitation or services at this
time. A celebration of Francis’ life will be held at a later
date to be announced.
Donations in memory of Francis would be
appreciated to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation, or Crohn’s and Colitis
Canada.
