Obituary of Frances MacLean-Fraser
Frances Cole MacLean-Fraser, age 100 of Hantsport, passed away on September 29, 2021 in Hants Community Hospital. She was born in Meagher’s Grant, a daughter of the late Clarence and Blanche MacLean.
Survived by daughter, Lorraine Cole McQueen and granddaughter, Alison Elizabeth McQueen, Hantsport; sisters, Elgie Stoddard, Lois Rourke, Marian Burke; brother, Burt (Marg) MacLean; and Nova Scotia nieces and nephews, Audrey Rourke, Bud (Faye) Greene, Cyril (Marilyn) Cole, Glen (Sandy) Cole, Ivan (Gloria) Bayer, Ronald (Lela) Killen, Ray (Erika) Cole, Sheila Pare, and numerous nieces and nephews across Canada.
A creative and award winning teacher, Frances will be remembered by her students and colleagues at Musquodoboit Rural High School. She contributed much to her community wherever she lived through the 4H Club and other community groups. She was a member of Avon United Church and Daisy Club, Hantsport. She will be remembered for her kindness to all, her delightful laugh and her competitive card playing.
She was predeceased by husbands, Austin Cole (Meagher’s Grant), and Tom Fraser (Ottawa); brothers, Charles MacLean and Donald MacLean; sisters, Bonnie McGuffie, Clara MacLean, Marie Dufault; and son-in-law, Cameron (Lorraine) McQueen.
Grateful thanks to the caring staff at Hants Community Hospital and her wonderful home care team.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date. Interment will take place in Meagher’s Grant Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Meagher’s Grant Cemetery, 3896 Hwy. 357, Meagher’s Grant, NS., B0N 1V0 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Coldbrook.
