Obituary
Frances Theresa Bailey
New Waterford
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Theresa Bailey on November 15, 2021, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Glace Bay on November 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Harriet (Slaunwhite) Gillis.
Frances was a lady with great faith, never missing mass until the start of Covid 19. She was an avid dancer, a great gardener, loved to read, and enjoyed her bingo nights, where she made many friends. She looked forward to her trips to the bungalow in Big Pond, which she enjoyed very much. Her three grandsons meant the world to her, as did her only daughter June.
Frances is survived by her daughter June (Sonny) Wadden; grandsons Donnie (Gisele), Rodney (Shannon), Shawn (Tori); great grandchildren Ava, Hazel, Keith, Lindsay, Sullivan; sister Helen Bailey, sister-in-law Alexena.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John B; brothers Billy, Charles ‘Ossie’, Joseph, brother-in-law Ernest.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be on Saturday, November 20, from 10am to 12pm. A chapel service will take place at 12pm with Father Peter McLeod officiating, followed by interment in Mt. Carmel cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the K.O.C on Plummer Avenue. Masks as well as proof of double vaccination are required.
