Florence (Flossie) Muggridge
January 16, 1929 – April 07, 2021
Passed peacefully away on April 7, 2021, in the presence of her loving family, Florence (Flossie) Muggridge, aged 92 years at the Dr. G.B.Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville.
Born and raised in Red Cliffe, Bonavista Bay, Flossie moved to Gambo with her husband Raymond (Ray). There they raised their daughter Patsy as active members of the community. Flossie was a member of the ACW Gambo, and the Altar Guild in both Gambo and Red Cliffe. Flossie and Ray loved to socialize by attending card games and other community activities, but her greatest love was cooking for her family and friends. She was never happier than when she placed a plate of food for family, friends, or guests to enjoy. After Ray’s passing, Flossie moved to Open Hall where she lived with Patsy, Lou and Josh for 21 years.
Flossie was predeceased by her parents, John and Cecelia Quinton, her loving husband of 46 years, Raymond; sister, Pearl Oldford; brothers-in-law, Oliver and James Muggridge; Norman Pritchett and Jack Oldford; sister-in-law ,Martha Pritchett; also great niece, Tracey Walsh.
Left with wonderful memories are her loving daughter, Lisa Patricia (Patsy), son-in-law, Lou, her cherished grandson, Josh (Nikita) , beloved brother, Max (Christine), sisters-in-law, Doris and Triffie Muggridge; many nieces and nephews, especially Celie and Marjorie Quinton, and great nieces and nephews and families. Flossie always said she had good friends, special to her were Vonnie Gould, Daisy Barker, Betty Murphy, Ethel Penney and Jessie Gould.
Flossie’s family wish to thank their friends and neighbours who helped them during this difficult time. They also wish to thank the staff at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital; Dr. Sarah Small; Community Health nurse, Ashley Matthews and Flossie’s caregivers, Wanda Newell and Lorraine Fry for their professional and compassionate care.
A Family Communion Service will be held on Monday, April 12th at 2 pm from St. Michael’s Anglican Church, Red Cliffe. Funeral service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Flossie’s memory may be made to the Open hall Anglican Cemetery Fund.
Patsy wishes to express special thanks to Pat, Sheila, Frances, Jane Barker and Cathy Hobbs for always being there for her and Flossie.
