FERRIER, ‘Charlotte’ Diane (née Boyd)

Diane spent the past 25+ years living in B.C., and most recently in the Sun Valley complex in West Kelowna. She loved her home and yard, but more than anything she loved the welcoming community who quickly became her steadfast friends. Most of these beloved friendships were enjoyed on the Two Eagles golf course and were often followed by cocktails and dinner. These gatherings meant everything to her and photos of these gatherings and friendships filled her house. Diane was an avid golfer with a large section of her closet filled with stylish golf attire. She refused to drive a golf cart and always walked the course. The walk was always considered valuable time to chat with her golf mates, though one chat ended in regaled laughter as she mismanaged herself and golf bag directly into a water hazard! Her best moment was her hole-in-one on the 10th green. Unfortunately, Diane will not be teeing off and mastering her long putt.
On September 16, 2021, she passed away due to complications from a recent diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. She spent 4 days in the Kelowna Hospice House with loving visits from her friends and family. The morning of September 16th she closed her eyes and quietly bid her goodbye.
In her last two weeks, we talked of her some of her favourite things: golfing, entertaining, pruning, drives to Lockport, Jeanne cake, a good cup of coffee, holidaying in Mexico, Willy Nelson, tequila, Wpg Blue Bombers, shopping, woodworking, painting, her independence, working in the bakeshop and decorating cakes, childhood trips to Portage La Prairie, Mr. Muggs, a clean house, the smell of freshly laundered bedding, penny candy, treehugger cookies, meeting her dad at the end of his workday, Lester Beach, the view from Bobbi’s front porch, speed skating as a young girl…there are so many more memorie¬¬s. We hope that you – her family and friends – take the time to gather and share your stories with each other. Based on her wishes there will not be a service.
Diane will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kim (Bob), Kirk (Michelle), Bobbi Jo (Brian); her grandchildren, Morgan, Heather, Bradley and Matthew; her great-grandchildren Harper and Finn; as well as her nieces and nephew and their respective partners and children. She was also blessed with an extended loving family with her partner Larry, and his children and grandchildren.
