James John Fernandes
May1st, 1943 – April 15th, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James John Fernandes on April 15th, 2021. Son of late Lena and Santan Fernandes of Pune, India, and son-in-law of the late Teresa & Arthur (Archie) Alexander of Delhi, India. Predeceased by his cherished siblings – Tommy, Arthur (Montreal) Babs and Mina Fernandes & his siblings in-law Maryann (New York) and Neville (India) Alexander. James is survived by his older brother Denis Fernandes of Ottawa, Ontario, and younger sister Jenny Fernandes of India. James leaves to mourn his loving wife of 51 years Thelma Christine Alexander and his two loving daughters Chimene Fernandes and Tanya Fernandes Duval. Son-in-law Rico Momusse & Pierre-Marc Duval. James treasured and took great pride in his grandchildren – Kyle Duval (19), Nyla Momusse (16), Malakai Duval (15), Alisha Momusse (13), Marcus Momusse (11) and Maliah Duval (8). In addition, Leaving behind his large extensive family from all over the world, nieces and nephews and extended family & friends.
James’s best known as Jimmy, arrived in Montreal Canada from India in 1977 where he worked for an Aerospace company in Montreal until he retired at the age of 63. James has been a parishioner and active member of the choir of Ste. Suzanne Catholic Church for many years. Jimmy always made God and Family his priority. James will be fondly remembered as a kind, funny and friendly man who never hesitated to help others in need. James will also be remembered for his love for a good Whiskey, cooking and watching wrestling during his down time. He will be sorely missed by all his family and those who had a chance to know him.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 14th, 2021 at Ste. Suzanne Church, 9501 Blvd Gouin W., Pierrefonds, QC, followed by a burial at Rideau Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4239 Blvd Des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Qc. Due to the pandemic and restrictions with guests, the service and burial will be held privately. We will send a link for the Church services to all family & friends so they may attend virtually.
In lieu of flowers, if you desire, donations in Jimmy’s memory are to be made to The Society of the Little Flower or Don Bosco Society India.
