Obituary
EVELYN BLANCHE FOSTER
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Evelyn Blanche Foster (Joly), on September 1, 2021 at the age of 78. Evelyn leaves behind her daughter, Rosalie Johnson, Ronda (Brad) Myers; son-in-law, Ron Guenthner; grandchildren, Tyson (Shelby) Myers, Chad (Stephanie) Foster, Jessica (Aaron) Perry, Jodie (Mike) Gordon, Kyle, Cara Johnson, Robyn Guenthner; great-grandchildren, Damian Johnson, Brennley, Maizee Myers, Carter Perry, Beau Gordon; brothers, Val (Eva) Joly, Louis (Rolande) Joly, Hector (Linda) Joly, Pat (Linda) Joly; sister, Louise (John) Warholik as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; daughter, Roxanne; sister, Vivian; brother-in-law, Laurie; sister, Lucille, brother, Denis and her parents, LeoPaul and Isabelle.
As per Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
Charlie and Evelyn moved to Wetaskiwin in 1970 with their three daughters. Over the years, Evelyn worked as a waitress at the Stanley Café, a clerk at Falman’s Department Store until it closed, then she decided to work the night shift at Walmart for a few years. That wasn’t enough for her. She delivered vehicles for a couple dealerships in town. She loved to drive so it was the perfect job for her, and in doing that, she got to go some places she never would’ve seen!
I don’t know if anyone knows this or not, but Evelyn loved to watch sports on tv. The Blue Jays were her favourite. She knew the names, and jersey numbers like they were long lost friends.
Evelyn was also a very good seamstress. She repaired many pairs of pants and jackets for the grandchildren. She loved to cook, but don’t show up late – she didn’t like that! She also shared lots of her baking with family and the women she had coffee with at A&W.
If things weren’t too busy for everyone, many games of Kentucky Rummy and Yahtzee were played at the kitchen table on a Sunday afternoon. Of course some of her baked goodies were set out to enjoy!
Evelyn survived cancer…twice!!! Unfortunately, an unrelated health issue took her from us before we were ready to let her go. She will be missed greatly.
Since no service is being held, think of her next time you hear “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill. It was her favourite.
