Millie Cowan
September 4, 1935 – December 12, 2021
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend Eva Mildred Cowan at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital in her 87th year. Millie was born on the family farm on September 4, 1935 in Bayham Township to Audrey (Buchner) and Earl Bristol. Millie spent many years farming and later painted and cared for elderly people. She was a strong, caring, hardworking person who had a zest for life. She loved music, dancing and socializing with people. Her family and friends were dear to her. She loved them and spent as much time with them as she could. Millie was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church where she had many friends. She leaves a legacy of helpfulness and kindness by putting needs of others before herself. Loving mother to Gale Roberts and her husband Donald of Eden. Caring step mother to Larry Schmeltz (Linda) and step son-in law Wayne Haney. Proud grandmother to Ryan Roberts and his children Kaylee and Carson and their mother Jennifer, Nicole Cluchey (Adam) and their children Brayden and Jaxon. Step grandmother to Wendy Schmeltz (Ray), Michael Schmeltz (Alicia), Terry Haney (Rick), Jodi Archer (Bill), Clint Archer (Darcy) and great grandmother to their children. Survived by her dear sister Marjorie Holden and sister in law Marilyn Bristol and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her step daughters Linda Haney and Carol Archer (Clarence-Chuck), her dear brother Jerald Bristol and brother in law Marvin Holden. Special thanks to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Staff for their kindness and compassion. As per Millie’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral services. A private family burial will be held at Eden Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in Millie’s memory may be made to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated and can be done by following the directions on Millie’s tribute page or by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home at 519-842-5221. Personal condolences and favourite memories are welcomed to be shared at www.ostrandersfuneralhome.com
