Eva Maria Tomasovszky (nee Szabo), age 78, passed away peacefully with family at her side on February 9, 2021.
Eva was born on April 27, 1942, in Budapest, Hungary. She was a beautiful and popular young woman who left her glamorous youth behind to start a family in Canada. She immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, in 1971, where she met her husband, Tom. Shortly after, they moved to Vancouver to raise their two children in the West End in a loving apartment home at the foot of Stanley Park, enjoying countless quiet days at its beaches, tennis courts, playgrounds, and fields through all seasons of the year.
Despite her heart illness, a disabling accident, and many health complications in the latter part of her life, Eva always pressed on. She was highly social and fun-loving, always welcoming her children’s friends into her home to share meals, celebrations, and amusement. Eva embraced fashion and fine taste, and she could often be found enjoying the good life in the West End’s and Yaletown’s coffee shops and restaurants. She was fun, had good humor, and could be quite silly.
Above all, she was a wonderful and selfless mother. She infused the importance of values and morals into her children’s upbringing and taught them to know love and respect for others. She loved her husband Tom, and they teamed through many challenges to raise a blissful family. There was so much love in this small family of four.
Eva is survived by her devoted husband, Tom Tomasovszky, to whom she was wed on February 14th, 1972; her younger brother, Szabo Sándor, and his family, who remain in Hungary; her son, Thomas, his wife, Ingrid, and their three children, Sofia, Ryan and Christopher, who live in Richmond, BC; and her daughter, Eva Andrea, her spouse, Joe, and their daughter, Paloma, who reside in Vancouver. Eva also leaves behind 2 grand puppies, Spencer and Mookie..
She is predeceased by her parents, Sándor and Maria, and her elder sister, Erzsébet.
Her life will be celebrated at a private funeral service held Thursday, February 18th, 2021, and her remains will rest at Capilano View Cemetery in West Vancouver.
We will love and remember her forever.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Eva Maria Tomasovszky nee Szabo April 27 1942 February 9 2021..
