Eunice Mae Jones Bouma nee Warnica 2021

Predeceased by her parents Harold and Mae Warnica of Miami, Manitoba. Eunice was born in the tiny village hospital on May 17, 1945. She grew up on the farm with her three brothers, Barry (Donna/deceased), Earle (Estelle/deceased) and Wayne (Debra). In high school, she played baseball, basketball, volleyball and curling and she was elected as the first female President of the Miami Collegiate Student Council. She was also President of Miami’s United Church CGIT. After high school, she attended Angus Business College.
Eunice married John Bouma (deceased) of Manitou, Manitoba in 1964 and was blessed with Susan (Will, grandsons Alex and Matthew), Brian (Christy) and Tracey (Ken, granddaughter Kenna and grandson Tyeson). She is survived by her beloved husband Gordon C Jones of Victoria, having been together since 1984. Eunice’s family were the most important people in her life and she showered them with love and affection. Her beloved, supportive children, Susan, Brian and Tracey were her very best friends and focus in her life. They are her legacies.
Her years teaching at Nellie McClung Collegiate in Manitou, then as Executive Secretary at her beloved Empress Hotel in Victoria, and then as supervisor of Administrative Services at British Columbia Buildings Corporation composed her career years from 1964-1997. She loved the occasional modelling assignment in Victoria, more often than not, purchasing the very clothes she modelled. She loved looking put-together (classic and sporty) and her home always reflected her taste. After retirement, she studied interior design and had several clients before her health issues forced her to abandon her passion.
She loved life, golf, snooker, music and dancing, dancing right to the finish line. Her artistic flair took shape with her many paintings in watercolours and acrylics with most of her artwork hanging on her family’s walls. She loved for her garden to be full of flowers. She could read for hours and hours and was a fierce competitor in Scrabble/Words games. These loves she has passed on in her children and grandchildren.
Eunice spent her final years again on a farm, tending to her flowers, enjoying the trees and the quietness of rural living. She leaves behind her husband, her children and grandchildren, her dear brothers and their families, as well as several dear friends: Eunie, Faye, Glenys, Pam, her snooker pals and neighbours.
“To love and to be loved is the greatest gift of all.”
A small intimate service will be held at Double Dutch Farm in the coming months. The family thanks everyone for their support and well wishes. One of the best gifts we can give someone is thanking them for being part of your life. Thank you MOM!
