Ethel McKay, 91, of
McNair Manor, Moncton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday,
November 17, 2021, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in
Moncton, she was the daughter of the late William and Marjorie
(Cameron) McIntyre.
Ethel started her
working career with the T. Eaton
Co., then met and married her
husband, James. She then paused her work to raise
her family. She was a
devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, was
an excellent cook and baker, but her true pride was
found in her family.
She and her husband,
Jim, had 6 children and raised
them into respected,
successful individuals, which was no easy task.
Through her support, encouragement, and
determination, she had laid the stable foundation
for who they all are
today. Ethel sacrificed a lot
for her family, often putting her
own wants and needs aside for her
children. The selfless example Ethel set is
one that all her children and grandchildren admire
and has also set the standard for their own
families.
Ethel and Jim raised
six children together: Patsy McKay-Jones
(late Keith), Judy Haley (late Albert), Colleen Stewart
(Allan), Penny Clancy (Stephen), James W. McKay
(Tami), Peter McKay (Karen).
She was also very proud of
her grandchildren Kerri (Joseph), Stacy, Clint,
Marla (Anthony), Jamie, Christina
(Jeff), Cherin (Richie), Lindsay (Chris), Kelsey
(Kevin), Eric and Ellen, and great
grandchildren Emily, Sydney, Tyler, Emma, Chase,
Ava, Violet, Hadley, Arlo, and Emmitt. She is
survived by her sister Dorothy McConnell (Jim) and brother Ed
McIntyre (Geraldine).
In addition to her parents, she
was predeceased by her husband James E. McKay,
daughter Penny
Clancy, great granddaughter Emily Ramsey,
brothers Jimmy McIntyre, Bobby McIntyre,
Ronnie McIntyre, and
David McIntyre, and sisters Donna
McIntyre and Gloria Fenton.
A heartfelt thank you to
the staff of McNair Manor (44 Beechwood), 5600 and the
palliative care unit of the Moncton Hospital for the

family.
