Ervin Roger Stewart
1937-2021
Ervin Roger Stewart – 83, Salmon River,
formerly of Old Barns, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 1,
2021, at home. Born in Old Barns, he was a son of the late Roger and
Violet (Ripley) Stewart.
Ervin is survived by his children, Kathy Stewart (Wayne
Gifford), St. Catharines, Ontario; Robert Stewart (Amy Sangster),
Salmon River; Jamie (Kristina) Stewart, West Virginia, USA. Ervin will
be missed by his grandchildren, Matthew Brewer (Rose Sherwood), St.
Catharines, Ontario; Samuel Brewer (Francine Mitrakos), North York,
Ontario; Thomas Brewer, St. Catharines, Ontario; Hayleigh Stewart,
Salmon River; Ben Stewart, Salmon River. He is also survived by his
siblings, Ruthven Stewart, Brookfield; twin sister, Mary Stordy,
Moncton, New Brunswick; Ann Smith, Truro; Elizabeth Dunphy,
Halifax.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings,
Laurie (Greta) Stewart, Russell (Chris) Stewart, Margaret (Kelly)
Grant; sister-in-law, Joyce Stewart; brothers-in-law, John Stordy,
Glen Smith.
He worked at Lafarge in Brookfield until his retirement.
Other than his family, Ervin enjoyed raising Charolais cows, gardening
and his fish ponds. His grandchildren will remember his famous pumpkin
and apple pies. Ervin had enjoyed traveling and working in Alberta
before settling on the family farm in Old Barns. He was much loved and
will be greatly missed.
Honouring Ervin’s wishes, there will be no funeral
service. If so desired, donations in his memory to a charity of choice
are welcomed.
