Erika Shipper

Peacefully, on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the age of seventy-five. Beloved wife of Stephen Shipper for almost forty years. An amazing Mom to her exceptionally strong, positive, and spirited daughter, Nadine, who stood by her, weathering any storm that Erika faced. Loving mother-in-law of Brian Desmarteau. Treasured sister and sister-in-law of Alice (Lash) and Steve Bulakowski, and sister-in-law of Bella Shipper and Leon Celemencki, Alan and Elaine Shipper. Special thanks to Erika’s niece, Natalie Celemencki Lang and her family. She will be deeply missed by her niece, Chrissy and nephew, Darren, as well as by her other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, family, and by her close friends, the Onesi family, Miss Gloria, Princess, the Palmer family, Barry Desmarteau and family, and Pamela Abraham (Chooch).
Erika was the most incredible woman who always cared for others and put their needs before her own. She touched the hearts of all who knew her with her incredibly strong, fun-spirited personality, and by sharing her biggest gift – being the most amazing culinary chef. Her cooking was the BEST! Her recipes will live on through her family! Erika cooked for her entire family and loved to share her cooking with the entire neighbourhood at times.
Erika was a warrior and handled her recent cancer diagnosis with great courage. She portrayed great strength and was incredibly inspiring during this most difficult time. She will forever live on in the hearts of her entire family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wong and staff at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence for their heart-warming and dedicated care. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sharon Dalrymple, to Doris from the CLSC, Hawa, Erika’s night angel from Gold Squad. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Melba Archer (a.k.a. Erika’s caregiver, friend and ‘pseudo-daughter’) for bringing love care and laughter to Erika all the way until her passing. A private funeral service to take place, by invitation only.
