Eric Michael Kennedy Dec 26, 1949 – May 1, 2021
Passed away at The Village of Winston Park after a long battle with dementia. Eric will always be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Gayle, children Matthew (Janie) Kennedy, Andrew Kennedy, Matthew (Jenn) Walker and Kate (Mike) Kraemer, and grandchildren Ryley, Liam and Lily Walker, sister Judy Kennedy (Greg), mother-in-law Norma Salter, and siblings-in-law Linda Kieswetter, Judy (David) Weaver, Brad (Cindy) Salter and Patti (Paul) McCormick. Eric will always be missed and remembered with fondness by Julie Kennedy (Mike) and Betty Merry, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Walter Kennedy, sister Carole (Richard) Carr, brother David (Wendy) and father-in-law Charles Salter.
We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at the Village of Winston Park for the incredible care and love you have shown to Eric for the past 5 ½ years. You have made a difficult situation easier, knowing he was loved and cared for when we could not be there. You really are Angels!
Thank you too for the support and education provided by the Alzheimer Society. During the early years of Eric’s diagnosis, you provided us with the resources we needed to navigate our way through in the best way possible.
Eric spent most of his career at Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro, and talked of his time there with fondness and a large dose of humour. When not working Eric loved to travel, ride his motorcycle, camp (armed with a full kitchen!), fix anything that needed attention and spend time with his family and friends. Eric most loved to care for and give to others and was at his happiest when he handed someone a large tin of the best butter tarts anyone ever tasted!
There will be no memorial service at this time due to Covid restrictions, but we look forward to a time when we can gather and share all of our favourite Eric stories. In the meantime, please toast him with a scotch and a beer, or the best butter tart you can find.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of K-W, The Village of Winston Park, or a charity of your choice.
