On Monday, December 27, 2021 Eric Mercer succumbed to many health issues which complicated his recovery from Covid-19. He will be sadly missed by many friends, family and extended relations.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Reginald Mercer “Reg/Poppy/Gampy”; Marjorie Mercer (nee Clark) “Nanny”; Jeanette Power (nee Everton) “Nanny”; uncle Robert Mercer “Bob” and uncle Philip Power.
He is survived by his parents Carl Mercer and Catherine Heebner (nee Power); his sister Nicole Mercer “Nikki”; nephew Jacob Redman; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Eric was born in Red Deer, Alberta in 1975. The family then moved to Regina, Saskatchewan in 1979 where Eric stayed for the rest of his life. He was involved with Boy Scouts at a young age and earned a few badges. He played football in high school and broke a toe. He had a few friends that he kept and remained as close as brothers to them. He gained more friends he thought of as brothers into his adult life.
Eric was known for many things including the color of his eyes – very bright blue like the sky. He always had a sparkle, especially when he was laughing. He was always helping out his friends and family, moving people or helping with home renos. He was polite and kind and pretty good with kids. He loved his only nephew and always made sure he was there for birthday parties and Christmas.
Eric was a part of many lives and will be missed. He will no longer be in pain and suffering. Rest in Peace Eric Daniel Mercer.
Come and Go Tea Memorial will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in JR’s Auto Glass, 558 – 10th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan.
