Obituary of Elva Geraldine Saunders
It is with great sadness the family of Mrs. Elva Geraldine Saunders, at the age 95, announces her unexpected but peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, November 26, 2021.
Born in Saint John on July 1, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Saunders. Elva lived on the Meenans Cove Road all of her life, bringing up a family of eight children. Her home was always open to all, all times with tea always on. She loved feeding the birds, and enjoyed reading, but mostly was always there for her family and neighbours. A great listener and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She was especially proud of her little man, her great grandson, Lundon Wright.
Elva is survived by her sons; Roy and Stanley of Quispamsis, daughters; Mary Hebert (Dennis) of Louisiana, and Elizabeth Saunders of Saint John, sisters; Jessie Saunders, and Thelma Saunders both of Saint John. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Elva was predeceased by her soul mate of 54 years Gordon Sparks, her sons; Tommy and Paul Saunders, daughters; Marilyn Cochrane, and Gladys Davis, brothers; Burphy, Murray, and George Saunders.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of 3CN for their kindness and compassion she received while in their care.
