Weppler, Elsie Katherine (nee Helwig)
1931-2021
Peacefully, on Monday, March 8, 2021, in her 90th year, gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour following a lengthy illness due to pulmonary hypertension. Predeceased by her loving husband Arnold (2011).
Remembering her with love and affection are her children, Anne (Robert McGee), Paul (Dana Saccoccio) and James (Nancy), grandchildren, Carlie (Padraig Kelly), Kate (Nick Groves), Johnpaul, Amanda (Douglas Ansel), Evan and great-grandson Miles.
Dear sister-in-law of David (Betty) and Pauline Klages (late Gordon). Predeceased by her brother John Helwig (2004).
Born in Carlsruhe, Ontario, Elsie was a resident of Nepean/Ottawa for 66 years.
Elsie was respected and admired as a kind, caring woman who carried herself with quiet dignity and style. Elsie was a woman ahead of her time, devoted to raising her children, while working from home performing the administrative roles for the family construction business. She valued the many lifelong friendships she made in her St. Paul’s church family. She was an avid Blue Jays fan.
A graveside service will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens, Ottawa on Saturday March 13, 2021 at 3pm. Due to current COVID restrictions attendance in person is limited. Those wishing to attend must register using the RSVP feature on the Hulse, Playfair & McGarry website at www.hpmcgarry.ca. The service will also be livestreamed and can be viewed on the website.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date.
Memorial donations to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 971 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, ON K2A 3G9 or The Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
