Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister and aunt, who succumbed to Covid-19.
Elizabeth was born in Spring Valley, Saskatchewan, one of eight children, to Sebastian and Frida Toni. She received her education from Pleasant Valley School, and went on to graduate with high marks from the Artistic Beauty College. As a young girl she had many chores while living on the family farm, and was a devoted sister to her younger siblings. Elizabeth worked for many years at St. Anthony’s Home in Moose Jaw, and was an avid singer in the Catholic Church choir. In 1962 she moved to Calgary, where she became a true extension to her sister’s family – no Christmas nor special occasion was celebrated without her. Elizabeth worked until retirement at the General Hospital in Calgary, and was a generous contributor to St. John’s, St. Francis, and St. Luke’s Catholic parishes, as a CWL member and an asset to their Church Choirs. Her love of music inspired her to learn to play the organ, and she entertained many with her beautiful singing voice.
Elizabeth loved to read and was always found with a book in her hand. She travelled abroad to Rome, and across Canada, where she was proud to say she dipped her toe in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Elizabeth loved the springtime when she could plant her many flowers and watch them bloom incessantly. Crocheting tablecloths and endless potholders, along with doing crossword puzzles became a comforted passion in her retirement years. Elizabeth’s laughter, and singing, will be dearly missed by those who loved her.
Elizabeth is predeceased by her five brothers, Zach, Sebastian, Wesley, Ewalt and Joseph. She leaves behind to mourn, her two sisters Agnes and Hilda, and many nieces and nephews.
We extend our thanks and appreciation to the caring staff at the Rivera Edgemont, where she resided for the past 2 years. We also commend her sister Agnes, who’s devotion and dedication to caring for Elizabeth will never be forgotten.
