Elizabeth Betty Stewart 2021

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Stewart
November 26, 1934 – August 2nd, 2021
“I chose today to take my stroll to heaven to live with the Angels and my beloved husband James. I lived to love a great husband but gained a good friend. So I must leave you all behind now and join him. I would like to thank all my nieces and nephews for all your love and support over the years. You were all like little brothers and sisters to me. I was always happy when I was in your company. We spent many happy days at family functions, parties, long days swimming at Nanna’s beach, and walks along the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The sunsets on the water with mountains in the background were always breath taking. Saturdays spent with Donna and George having my cup of tea and there were many. Debbie my Godchild for all the visits and shopping. Two special grandnieces, Melissa and Melanie, for everything, you were more than nieces to me. Thank you to Betty and Sheldon for all your drives to church, concerts and plays we enjoyed.”
“Remember me for all the happy times. I will be waiting for all of you on the other side with open arms. I am everything I am because you loved me. I would like the memories of me to be our happy times, our laughing times, and our bright and sunny days. I would like the tears of whom are grieving, too dry, before the next sun up. Remember all the happy memories when I leave this earth and my life is done.”
“I lived with my husband James on 537 Atlantic Street, Sydney until his passing in 2012. I sold my home and moved to 19 Charlotte Street, Sydney Mines with my nephew.”
Today, we are saddened by the loss of our sister, our aunt and our friend, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Stewart. She passed away with her sister Bev Robin, niece Donna Bond and Godchild Debbie MacAskill at her side. There would not have been enough room for all who wanted to be present, but Covid restrictions would not allow that. Extended family waited patiently for updates.
She was the daughter of the late John and Williamena (Young) Boyd. She was born and educated in Sydney Mines, NS. She was a member of the Holy Family Church. She did hospital work until her retirement from St. Elizabeth Hospital in 1974. She is survived by sisters Tina Crews, Bev Robin and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her parents, Williamena and John, husband James, sisters; Henriette, Pearl, Stasia, Mary, Marie and one very special angel Lorraine, Brothers: Rannie and Daniel, beautiful niece Darlene Hall, special brother-in-laws, John Burton and Don Robin and family.
Her Loving and gentle nature taught us all to love and respect all others and never to judge. Her words of wisdom taught us to go on without her in our journey of life. She treated others the way she liked to be treated and she led by example. She would do anything for anyone and was a friend to all.
In honouring Betty’s wishes there will be no visitation. The remains have been entrusted to Sydney Memorial Chapel. Cremation has taken place. Her funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church, Main Street, Sydney Mines Tuesday August 10, 2021 at 11 am with Rev. Fabian Ihunegbo officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Haven, Grand Lake Road, Sydney next to her husband James Leo Stewart. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

“When Someone you treasure becomes a memory, their memory becomes a treasure.” “When you think of me, touch your heart, Iwill always be there.”
“See you all on the other side.”
A friendship shared, a laugh a kiss
Oh yes these things I too shall miss.
My life’s been full, I have savoured much Good times, good family, a loved ones touch.
Betty, your Sister, Aunt and Friend
