Elizabeth “Betty” B.
Kay, 90, of McKees Mills, passed away peacefully at The Moncton
Hospital on Monday, July 19, 2021.
Born in Saint John, she was the
adopted daughter of the late Florence R.
Clare.
In 1959, Betty married the late
David Kay (February 2011) and worked on the family farm for the next
40 years and was a former employee of the Bank of Nova Scotia, St.
George St. Branch for ten years. She attended the one room school in
Main River and Success Business College, Moncton. Betty was a member
of Zion United Church, McKees Mills and was an Honorary Elder, Clerk
of Session and served on various church committees. Betty was a Life
Member of Zetland Chapter No. 26, Order of Eastern Star, Shediac Cape,
Past Matron, Secretary and Treasurer, former member of Grand Chapter
N.B. O.E.S., Secretary Treasurer of Moncton Branch Grand
Representatives Assn. O.E.S., a Founding Life Member of Sir Charles
G.D. Roberts I.O.D.E., Moncton, Treasurer of McKees Mills Community
Association and Zion United Ladies Aid. She was a recipient of the
Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in October
2012.
Betty will be sadly missed by
her loving nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews and by her
close friend, Jeanne Wheelock of Bangor,
ME.
She was the last surviving
member of her immediate family.
In addition to her mother, she
was predeceased by her husband, David Kay (February 2011), Robert
Scott (1987) and Mildred Scott (1994).
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral
Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 6:00 to
9:00 pm. A Zetland Chapter No. 26, O.E.S. Memorial Service followed by
the funeral service will be held from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on
Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Woodlawn
Cemetery, McKees Mills.
