Obituary
The sewing machine has gone quiet, the banjo and keyboard have not played a tune and while the kitchen is busied by her helpers, it echoes her absence. Seamstress, baker, singer, crafter, musician, volunteer and chef, Betty Ann Fewer wore many hats but the deep love for her husband, daughter, family and friends was by far her most important accomplishment. After a courageous battle with cancer, Betty Ann peacefully passed away on July 25th, 2021 surrounded by her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Mary (Nell) Hickey, parents-in-law Pat and Lizzy Fewer, cherished brother Simon and special friends Connie Woodford and Rowena (Power) Street, brother-in-law Jim (Yvonne) and adored fur-baby B.J.. Leaving to mourn but also celebrate her life, her prince charming husband Joe, treasured daughter Dawn (Steve), beloved stepsons Colin (Becky), Patrick (Amanda), Shawn (Jaime) and Derek. She was loving referred to as “Nanny B” to her grandchildren Avery and Abigail, Nolan and Maggie, Jordan (Kate along with great-grandchild-to-be Jack), Jonathon and Dylan, Kyle, Emily and Olivia. She was blessed to be supported by her siblings Leo (Gerry), Ray (Mary), Kev (Alice), Mary (Walter-deceased), Angela (Gary), Gus (Ellen) and Christine (Chris) and siblings-in-law Richard, Ann (Terry), Rosmary and Dennis. Words cannot express our thanks to her amazing sisters Mary, Ange and Christine, over her many months of illnesss, for their love and generosity as they took care of her every possible need.
She was also deeply loved and will be missed by her special friends Irene Costigan, Theresa Grace and Maria Woodford, as well as a large circle of treasured nieces and nephews (Auntie B, loved them all!), relatives (including the Buckle and Power families), life-long neighbours and friends. A special thank-you to Sheila Galway Rideout for her care and professionalism (you will forever be a cherished part of our family) as well as her long-time family doctor, Dr. Paul Walsh, for his exceptional care over the past 40 years, the cancer care team; Dr. C. Popaduik, Dr. N. Fardy and Dr. J. Neveu and Eastern Health nurses Melissa, Diane, Joanne and Tina. Her family would also like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Rev. Fr. Mike Barker for his spiritual guidance on her final journey.
