It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Elizabeth Anne Breen, 75, of Havre Boucher, who passed away peacefully at home on the 11th of September, 2021.
Born on December 24th 1945, Zabeth was the daughter of the late Boniface and Irene (Benoit) Breen of Cape Jack. She worked for years at the fish plant in Mulgrave before taking time at home to raise her family. Later in life she worked as a custodial care assistant with the Guysborough Antigonish Straight Health Authority. She enjoyed the friendships she made with her co-workers and had a special place in her heart for all those she sat with. Well-known throughout the community for her sense of humour, you could always count on her to turn any situation into a humorous one. She could put a smile on your face in seconds with her quick wit. Zabethloved to cook and took every opportunity to do so for her grandchildren when they were home, often personalizing their visits by making their favorite meal. “Aunt Betty” will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews who saw her as a second mother. Everyone was made to feel at home when they would pop by the house. Whatever was cooking on the stove was up for grabs and there was always cake, pie, cookies, or chocolates at the ready. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildrenwere her pride and joy, and she loved spending time with her fur grand babies. She was the glue that held our family together and her loss leaves a hole in our lives that can never be filled.
Elizabeth is survived and dearly missed by her husband of 55 years, James, sons Richard, Ronnie, and Stefan, daughters Sarah (Chris) and Bonnie (Randy);grandchildren Kristy (Ben), Nick (Kasia), Jessica, Tristen, and Kayden;great grandchildren Lucia, Vivian, Evelyn, and Kyle; siblings Joe, Michael (Evangeline), Gerald (Sylvia), Carol, Marion (Gilbert) and Bernadette. She was predeceased by her brothers Arthur and Georgie, sisters Jean and Barbara, and grandsons Brandon and Zackery.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am From St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday Sept. 16th 2021. Funeral arrangements are under the care & direction of Green’s Funeral Home 507 Bernard St. Port Hawkesbury. Donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
