Helen “Elizabeth” Alley (nee Roberts)
Died peacefully in her sleep on November 20th in Miami, Florida. She was 103 yrs. young. She is survived by three nieces and a nephew: Kathryn Weinel (husband Bruce) and Helen Blakey of Baltimore, Maryland; Mary Roberts and John Roberts of Lansing, Michigan. “Betty”, as she was known to her family and close friends, was a summer resident of Fenelon Falls. In her youth Betty visited relatives in Fenelon Falls on summer vacations with her parents, and continued to return numerous times when her parents eventually retired to Fenelon Falls. Eventually she and her husband Jim built a cottage on Sturgeon Lake where they vacationed every summer from 1979 to 2010. Betty and Jim moved to Miami, Florida in 1969 and resided in their home until 2010 when Jim died. Betty then moved to the Palace Royale in Miami and lived there until her death. Betty was an alumnae of Alma College in Alma, Michigan and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a school teacher and taught many grades and subjects. She also followed her husband, Jim, who was a Navy Chaplain, to many places around the world where he was assigned by the Navy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
