Obituary of Elio Francescangeli
Passed away peacefully with his wife Leonora by his side on September 23, 2021 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Leonora (née Lametti) for 62 years. Loving father of Massimo (Anna), Moreno, Paolo and Tania (Robert). Caring Nonno of Brittany, Jordan, Lindsay, Chiara, Abigail, Alessandro and Maisie. Survived by his brother Lanfranco (Carolyn) and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Carlo and Palmira (née Burattini) and by his siblings Annunziata Torelli (Torello) and Giuseppe – Pepe (Bianca).
Elio worked as a coalminer, living in France for 8 years. He came to Canada arriving in Halifax, N.S. at Pier 21. He married his beautiful wife in 1959 and they settled in Port Colborne, where they raised their 4 children. Elio loved to dance, and he was always making those around him laugh and feel loved. We will miss our beloved Poppy and Nonno. May you forever dance with the Angels.
The Francescangeli family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Monday from 5 – 8 p.m. Vigil will be recited at the funeral home Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 379 Fares Street, Port Colborne, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Janusz Roginski as celebrant. Cremation will follow. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society.
