Elford, William John ‘Bill’
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William John ‘Bill’ Elford. Bill passed away peacefully with family at his side at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the age of 85.
Bill was the cherished husband of Dorothy Elford (nee Reid) for 64 years.
Lovingly remembered by daughter Kathryn (Steven) Winters and Jeffrey (Shelley) Elford. Devoted grandfather of Amanda and Wesley Winters, Vanessa Elford and Jacqueline (Jason) Boyd, and great grandfather of Cecily Boyd.
Bill will be fondly remembered by his sister Lois (Keith) Hewgill of Meaford, brother Larry (Eleanor) Elford of Thornbury and his sister Judy (Mark) McReynolds of Manning, AB.
Bill was a devoted Christian and long term member of the Church of Christ. He was a great neighbour and friend; he was always available to help at the time of need.
He will be remembered for his tireless hours, unlimited energy and hard work. Bill was dedicated to the raising of Purebred and Fullblood Simmental Cattle. He was a long time member of the Grey Bruce Simmental Club and the Canadian Simmental Association. With the help of his grandchildren, Bill showed his prize cattle at the County Fairs and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.
He loved his farm, located on the picturesque ‘Beaver Valley Road’, 235961 RR #1 Kimberley, known as “Elforado Farm”. Located in the heart of the Beaver Valley, Bill’s farm will be a landmark for many years to come.
Bill was a community minded person, always interested in supporting community functions. Past President of the Beaver Valley Chamber of Commerce, he was instrumental in organizing the “Apple Blossom Ball” and the snowmobile and motorcycle ice races held on the Duncan Lake.
A private service will be conducted at the Church of Christ in Meaford with interment following at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery.
