Eleanor Whalen New Waterford 1950 2020

Obituary of Eleanor Whalen, New Waterford
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of my beloved mother, Eleanor Whalen, peacefully on December 31, 2020 at home.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Sadie (Gillis) Connors.
Eleanor fought a long, hard battle with cancer but always had high spirits and a positive attitude.
She always enjoyed visiting and having company as well as going out with her friends on a monthly basis for dinner and laughs.
Surviving are her son, Brian, Halifax; brother, Jim Connors Sr., Sydney; sisters-in-law, Susan Whalen and Jacqueline Whalen, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews and longtime childhood friend, Cornelia Kearney, Montreal.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Brian Whalen; sisters, Sandra Connors, Halifax and Barbara Connors, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. As per Eleanor’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Special thank you to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre, Palliative Care and VON.
Donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
