CANCELLATION NOTIFICATION – The graveside service scheduled for Saturday, May 8th at St. Mary’s Cemetery has been POSTPONED.
Eleanor passed away peacefully at Streamway Villa Nursing Home in Cobourg on Friday March 26th, 2021, at 91 years of age. Beloved wife and mother, she is predeceased by her devoted husband Terry and survived by her sons Dave, Steve (Flory), late Geoff (Dianne, granddaughters Katie and Sarah), late Paul, brothers Wilbert and Elmer (Ann), sisters Doreen (late Al), sister Helen (Jack), nieces, nephews and many other family members. Eleanor is predeceased by her parents Alex and Nora, brothers Clarence, Wally (Theresa), Raymond, Norm, Gerald (Irene), Jerome, sisters Margarete and Joan (Stan). She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Eleanor was born in Chepstow, Ontario on December 12, 1929 and grew up there. She graduated and served as a nurse at St. Joseph’s hospital in Toronto. She married her first husband Bill and later moved to Walkerton, Ontario where they raised 4 boys and were active in the community. Bill passed in 1971. Eleanor and Terry married in 1974, moved to a small farmstead near Vernonville and lived there happily for 42 years raising kids and enjoying country living. She loved family, gardening, wood carving, collecting books and she nursed at Sidbrook Hospital. Her sunny disposition, hospitality and deep caring for her own and for others warmed and lightened the lives of many. Beloved Eleanor will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Those wishing may make a memorial donation for dementia research to the Alzheimer Society Of Canada
