Obituary
Elaine Belza, age 69, of Swift Current and formerly of Val Marie, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 with close friends at her bedside the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.
Elaine is survived by her partner, Garry Fernquist; her brother, Dennis Petit; and by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband Ed Belza; and by her parents, Edward & Dora Petit.
Elaine was born June 7, 1951 and raised in Ogema Sk. She attended the University of Regina and graduated with a degree in Education. She started her teaching career in Val Marie, SK in 1971 and stayed there for 31 years. Elaine loved teaching and her students became like family to her.
When Elaine retired from teaching she moved to Swift Current. She enjoyed going to the gym and visiting with friends over coffee and lunch. Elaine enjoyed traveling, including a few cruises.
She battled hard to fight her cancer — she was determined to get better and did everything possible to do so.
The Private Family Interment Service for Elaine Belza will take place at a later date, there will be no formal Funeral Service.
In memory of Elaine Belza and for those wishing to do so, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Swift Current SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
