1950-2021
It is with deep sadness the family of Edward Joseph
Barry of Ferndale, Placentia, Newfoundland announce his passing at the
age of 70. Edward was born on September 7, 1950to
William and Annie Barry of Petite Forte, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland.
He was a loving sibling to eleven older brothers and sisters. Edward
was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
Edward met his beautiful bride and wife of 50
years, Winnie (nee Gambin) in 1967 and they were later married in
Placentia, Newfoundland in 1971.
In 1973, Edward began his lifetime career at Marine
Atlantic, where he dedicated 40 years of Steward service on various
vessels. His favourite being the The Northern Ranger on the Labrador
run. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He
loved to go trouting, playing darts, listening to music, the
occasional beverage and being
the “centre of
attention”. He was also a
proud member of the Star of the Sea
Association.
Edward was preceded in death by his
parents William and Annie Barry and his in-laws Cornelius and Florence
Gambin.
Edward is survived by his wife, Winnie; children;
Jamie (Valery), Charlene (Eamon), Sheldon (Miranda), Vanessa (Rodney);
grandchildren, Edward & Alison, Brandon, Nathan, Alyssa and
Kayla, Emma & Abigail and Ava; Close pal Hunter, brothers
& sisters; Fidilis – deceased, Marguerite (Mike), Jack –
deceased (Florence), Mary – deceased (Frank – deceased), Gerald –
deceased (Mary), Francis (Larry), Jim (Rosemarie – deceased), Bill,
Clarissa – deceased and Alamena (deceased). In-Laws; Mary &
Joe – deceased, Till & Frank – deceased, Dan (Cis – deceased),
Imelda & Bill, Leo & Julia, Cornelius &
Madeline, Veronica & Ron and John &
Anita.
Also leaving a nephew behind who was more
like a brother; Fidilus Barry of Petite Forte and also nephews Larry
and Gary Foley.
Special niece Alamena Barry-Coffey – deceased and
special nephew Rick Gambin –
deceased.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to
Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place
on Thursday January 28, 2021 from 3pm to 8
pm.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Public Health
Emergency, visitation is permitted with restrictions. The maximum
number of people permitted in the visitation room at one time is 20
people. All visitors must sign in and sign out for contact tracing
purposes, and masks must be worn at all times. Hand sanitizer will be
provided and is to be used upon entering and exiting the building.

By invitation only: Mass of Christian Burial to
take place at 10:30am on Friday January 29th, at Sacred Heart Church,
Placentia. Internment to follow at a later
date.
