Edna Pridgeon Livingstone of Simcoe, Ontario
June 23, 1928 – March 5, 2021
LIVINGSTONE, Edna – Edna Livingstone passed away peacefully at Norview Lodge, Simcoe ON, on March 5, 2021 in her 93rd year. Born in Motherwell Scotland, Edna arrived at Pier 21 on September 12, 1946 as one of hundreds of WWII warbrides, having met and married a young navy seaman, David Davidson (Sr.).
Edna was active in St James United Church in Simcoe for over 70 years where she was active in the Mr. and Mrs. Club, the annual Frosty Fairs and the UCW. Mom always loved to dance and enjoyed the many local bands at the Legion hall and the Army Navy Club with husband Dave. When she married Sam they both enjoyed their favorite past time of Square Dancing with the Norfolk Star-a-Naders group where they made many new and long time friends.
Edna was a survivor. She was a child of the thirties – lean and terrible days that led up to the 1939 conflict. She left home at age 16, arriving in Greenoch Scotland where she met Dave; leaving her homeland at 18 as a newly married woman and then surviving her first Canadian winter that same year. All through those more trying times she always looked out for the well being of others and will be remembered as one of the most loving and caring individuals of her adopted home of Simcoe.
Edna was predeceased by her first husband Dave Davidson (1971), second husband Sam Livingstone (2008), daughter Margo Davidson (2008), sister Billie Hinshelwood (2007), and brothers Graham & Ian Thomson in 2008. She is survived by her brother Alastair Thomson (Liz), sons Dave Davidson (Alison), Steve Livingstone (Denise), & daughter Kari Barber (Murray) and by 9 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Ferris Funeral Home, 214 Norfolk St. S., Simcoe on Wednesday March 10, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. where service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Mary Jo Patterson officiating. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. With respect to covid 19 regulations all visitors are required to register with the funeral home by calling (519-426-1314) or email (ferris@kwic.com) with name and telephone number of each guest as capacity is limited.
