THEAKSTON, Edna Myrtle-
October 6, 1945 – December 14, 2021
Edna Theakston passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2021, at Hospice Prince Edward with her family by her side. She was in her 76th year. She is now in the arms of the Lord and reunited with her late daughter Terri-Lee Theakston. Edna was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia to the late James Nicholson Sr. and Hilda Nicholson (O’Brien). She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, David Theakston, her daughter Simone Pero (Mike) and her son Kreg Theakston. She will be fondly remembered by her three wonderful grandsons, James Pero, Cameron Pero, and William Theakston, who she loved very much. She also leaves behind her sister Doretta Russell and her brother James Nicholson Jr. (Beth), both of Pictou, Nova Scotia, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In later years, Edna enjoyed travelling overseas with her husband and many special people. She equally enjoyed many years of long stays in Cocoa Beach, Florida with a fun group of friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Nora Connell, Dr. Andrew Robinson, and his wonderful staff, for guiding her through her seven-year journey with cancer, as well as Dr. Walman, Nurse Practitioner Brad Gunn, Dr. Christie, and Dr. LeBlanc for helping her in her final days. The family is truly grateful for the wonderful care given to Edna while in Hospice Prince Edward by the compassionate healthcare team including Lisa, Jennifer, Donita, Ashley, Donna, Lorraine and many more.
Mrs. Theakston is resting at Rushnell Funeral Home – Picton Chapel; cremation has taken place and there will be a family, graveside funeral at the Quaker Cemetery in the spring.
It was Edna’s wish that donations in her memory be made to the United Church Food Bank. Donations to Hospice Prince Edward would be greatly appreciated by the family in memory of Edna.
