Edith I. MacQuarrie, 83, of
Lakeview Manor, Riverview, and formerly of 212 Sumner Avenue, Moncton,
NB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at The Moncton
Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Moncton, she was the
daughter of the late Bramwell and Mary (Fox)
Richards.
Edith was a former employee of
Dominion Stores Ltd. and Mountain Way Grocery. She was a member of St.
John’s United Church, The Sanctuary Choir, the Ladies Choir
and The Greater Moncton Chorale.
Edie was a homemaker and mother
of four boys. Creating new recipes was her speciality, like fruit cake
wrapped and preserved. She was always ready for church activities,
UCW, community events and she still found time for knitting,
crocheting, home and school, bowling and a family card game. She also
loved watching the Jays and Maple Leafs, cross country skiing, but
mainly watching curling. When the World Curling came to Moncton, she
and Bob volunteered and purchased the workers uniforms. This provided
them an opportunity to see a lot of matches. She was a member of The
Moncton Ladies Probus Club, loved travelling and RVing in the
Maritimes, a trip across Canada, the New England States, Tennessee,
Florida and Texas, until she discovered Europe and enjoyed three
memorable trips.
Edith will be sadly missed by
her husband, Robert “Bob” L. H. MacQuarrie of Riverview.
