At the age of 101 years our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Edith Collins passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
Born July 2, 1920, in Channel-Port Aux Basque, NL, she was the daughter of the late William and Miriam (Garland) Richards.
Edith was a devoted member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Whitney Pier, where she was also a member of the ACW for almost 50 years. Before retirement, she worked at Crowells Department Store and Moraff Crafts.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Richards, Patricia Collins and Susanne Murphy; grandchildren, Paula, Karen (Paul), Scott (Jody) and David (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lucas, Jacob, Olivia and Katelyn; sisters, Evelyn (the late Reg) Battler, Kitchener, ON and Alice (the late Jack) Evans, Sydney; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harold Collins; sisters, Anne (George) Smith, Kathleen (Harold) Halfyard and Elizabeth (Loyal) Freake; and son-in-law, Robert Richards.
A private family service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
