1933-2021
Edith Ann Thorburn 87, of McAdam, New Brunswick, peacefully
passed away on April 8, 2021 with her family by her side. Born in
Hartland, New Brunswick, Carleton County on December 31, 1933. She was
the daughter of the late Henry Ward Ginson and Ada Rose (Olden)
Ginson.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Janet Robichaud (Ovila),
Judy Sullivan (Troy) and son-in-law Joseph Piercy. grandchildren Troy
Piercy, Michelle McGillicuddy (Terry), Patty Fawkes, Rachel Robichaud
(Rick), Sarah Robichaud (Dave), Christy Robichaud (Mark), Angie Brown
(Alex) and Edith’s pride and joy her ten great- grandchildren Brayden,
Haley, Madison, Ava, Hailey, Alana, Addison, William, Clara, and
Meredith.
Edith was predeceased by her husband William Thorburn (Bill),
youngest daughter Ellen Piercy, brother Robert Ginson and
sisters, Evelyn Ginson, Kathleen Stephen, Dorothy Chase and Ruth
Breneol.
Edith was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandparent. She had a
passion for life, and it reflected in her career as a teacher and
volunteer. Edith dedicated her time as a volunteer at the St.
George’s Anglican Church, serving on the rectory, choir and
playing the organ. Edith was also a long standing, member of
the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion and served as President and
Secretary on the New Brunswick Provincial Command. She loved the
outdoors and spent many hours tending to her beautiful gardens and
feeding her neighborhood four legged friends.
Funeral service will be held at The S. O. Mehan & Son
Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, NB on Wednesday, April
14, 2021 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
on Wednesday from 1 PM until service time. COVID-19 protocols will be
in place and social distancing is encouraged and masks are
mandatory.
Interment at Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, NB will be held at a
later date.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the
entire staff of the Wauklehegan Manor for the wonderful love and care
they each provided while Edith was a resident.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to
be made to the McAdam High School Scholarship Fund, Wauklehegan Manor
Activity Department or Carma Cat Rescue.
