Earle Lawrence Smith
1933 – 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Earle Lawrence Smith, 87, of Bedford, NS, on January 25, 2021 at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Middleton, NS, he was eldest son of the late Russell and Marjorie (Connell) Smith. Earle is survived by his loving wife, of 18 years, Doreen (Fraser) Smith. He is also survived by his sons, Brian Smith (Andrea) of Calgary, AB; Andrew Smith (Lorna) of Hinton, AB, daughter, Marianne Smith-Illsley of Nictaux, NS; stepdaughter, Debra Havill (John) of Hammonds Plains, NS and stepson, Stephen Spark (Sharon) of Riverview, NB; 10 grandchildren/step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Phyllis Smith, Nictaux, NS; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Earle was predeceased by his wife, Fay Wood; sisters, Margaret Lohnes, Barbara Ann Gates and brother, Shirley Smith. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will be held on February 10, 2021 by invitation only, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Donations in Earle’s memory may be made to the S.P.C.A, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice. The family would like to thank the special people at Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Center, Halifax as well as the wonderful staff at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax for the tremendous love and care that was shown to Earle during the past year.
