Dunsmore Mariann 2021

Dunsmore, Mariann
Mariann Cecilia Dunsmore
Passed away peacefully on the morning of November 12th, 2021, with her family by her side,
at the home of her sister and brother-in-law.
Daughter of David and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Dunsmore of Toronto, (both predeceased).
Ann will be sadly missed by all her sisters – Jo-Anne Rively, Teresa Dale, her twin Marilou Baker, Patti MacKenzie, and their partners.
She will be remembered fondly by all her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In so many ways Mariann was the heart of her family – everyone’s favourite auntie.
Mariann will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched as a caring, relatable, passionate and a fun-loving person
with a great sense of humour who lived simply and cared for many.
Mariann dedicated her life to rendering God present to the imagination of children and adults.
Her gospel witness of service was at the heart of her twenty-three years as a lay member of Madonna House and her ministry as a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) catechist. CGS was a central part of Mariann’s life work. She coordinated and
contributed to building four Atriums and was the cofounder of the Atrium at St. Basil’s Catholic Parish.
CGS influenced both Mariann’s spirituality and her practice as an accomplished artist and iconographer. Mariann worked mostly in acrylic paints, and her works are influenced by the rich traditions of Eastern Orthodoxy, African (Coptic and Ethiopian) and Western sacred art.
Her favourite work is a traditional egg tempera which she playfully referred to as “Cheeks”.
In the last five years, Mariann committed herself to exploring the feminine mystical tradition of the Church in the company of The Contemplative Women of Saint Anne, as well as having been a central member of the Magdala Conciliary – a community dedicated to deepening the richness of the feminine wisdom embedded within the Catholic tradition.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sarah Le Blanc and the team at the Prince Edward Family Health Care
for their professional, responsive, and compassionate palliative care.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Basil’s Catholic Church, 50 St. Joseph’s St. Toronto,
on Tuesday, November 30th at 2:00 p.m.
Pandemic restrictions apply I.E. masks and vaccinations required.
For those of you who cannot attend, the liturgy will be live streamed via
